INTRODUCTION
This course will equip students with the essential knowledge and skills to work in the childcare industry. It will provide students with the tools and techniques needed to support the development and learning of children.
COURSE OBJECTIVES

To provide individuals with the support and knowledge to effectively aid in the development of children throughout their developmental stages.

To provide observation and interpretation skills required to sensitively handle domestically abused children.

To reiterate the importance of maintaining a safe environment for children that is conducive to language and cognitive development.

To equip participants with entrepreneurial techniques to start private daycare services.

EXAMINATION
Assessment of the course is determined by course work which accounts for 40% of the overall grade. As well as the final written examination which accounts for 60%.

INSTRUCTIONAL APPROACH
This course will involve a mix of lectures, discussions and presentations. To benefit fully, a student’s participation in all aspects of the course is required.
