This course is designed to equip individuals with the requisite knowledge and practical skills to address the needs of older adult patients. It will guide individuals to understanding the importance of
communication and ensuring their actions aid in the protection and well-being these individuals.

In order to meet the standards for this qualification, individuals will need to demonstrate the ability to:
MANDATORY COURSES:

Communicate with, and complete records for individuals.

Support the health and safety of yourself and individuals.

Develop your knowledge and practice.

Ensure your own actions support the care, protection and well-being of individuals.
4 ELECTIVES MUST BE CHOSEN:

Carry out and provide feedback on specific plan of care activities.

Support individuals to access and use information.

Support individuals in their activities of daily living .

Support individuals to make journeys.

Support individuals to meet their domestic and personal needs.

Support individuals to access and participate in recreational activities.

Support individuals to take part in developmental activities.

Support individuals during therapy sessions.

Provide food and drink for individuals.
EXAMINATION
Assessment of the course is determined by course work which accounts for 40% of the overall grade. As well as the final written examination which accounts for 60%.
PRE-REQUISITES

English 101.
INSTRUCTIONAL APPROACH
This course will involve a mix of lectures, discussions and presentations. To benefit fully, a student’s participation in all aspects of the course is required.
