INTRODUCTION
This course was designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to function effectively in an administrative environment. The topics covered also lay the
foundation for continued education in the areas of Business Administration and Management.
Participants are also eligible to pursue the NVQ Business Administration Level 1.
ABOUT THE PROGRAMME:
This programme will introduce participants to the following;
1. Fundamental usage of business communication
2. Practical and theoretical concepts of management.
3. Strategies for effective marketing and advertising.
4. Promote the effective communication of occupational health and safety activities and practice.
5. Financial statements and records essential to making investment decisions.
6. Concepts of Planning and implementation of change in the workplace.

EXAMINATION
Assessment of the course is determined by the written examination which accounts for 60% of the overall grade. As well as the final project which accounts for the remaining 40%.

Note: Grade requirements for CXC/CSEC subjects are General Proficiency – Grades 1 or 11 prior to June
1998 and Grades 1, 11 or 111 from June 1998.
INSTRUCTIONAL APPROACH
This course will be offered in the face to face mode and will involve a mix of lectures, discussions and presentations. To benefit fully, a student’s participation in all aspects of the course is required.

AWARD OF QUALIFICATION:
This programme offers dual qualification. Career Development Institute’s Certificate in Business
Administration on successful completion of full programme and the TVET Council’s Unit Qualification in individual Units or Full Qualification in Business Administration Level 1 upon the successful completion of the Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ) Level -1 – Assessments.
